A diary that runs July to June is hard to find ready-made, and awkward to fake by crossing out a January one. The Financial-year diary starter sets one up: twelve months from July, a month on every spread, the date grid across most of it with a dotted notes strip down the right-hand edge, a cover marked 'Financial year', and a ruled notes page at the back.

It is an A4 landscape canvas that folds to A5 pages, in booklet order for double-sided home printing. The starter uses the Australian financial year and Australian holidays; change the starting month and the Financial year to the UK's 6 April, the US federal 1 October, or New Zealand, Canada or India's 1 April, and pick your own country's holidays.

Frequently asked questions

Which financial years can I choose?

Australia (1 July), New Zealand (1 April, the income-tax year), the UK tax year (6 April), the US federal fiscal year (1 October), Canada (1 April, the federal government's year) and India (1 April). Choosing one marks its first and last day. You set the starting month yourself; the starter begins in July.

Does it mark the quarters?

There is a switch, 'Mark quarter starts', under Holidays & dates. The diary starter leaves it off to keep the page clear, so turn it on if you want it.

Which paper does it use?

A4 landscape sheets, which fold to A5 pages. For US paper, use the Calendar-year diary for Letter and set the starting month to your financial year's start.

Is it a tax diary?

No. It is a dated diary that starts when your financial year does and marks its first and last day. It does not know about deadlines or rules, which are yours to write in.
