A desk or wall calendar hangs from its top edge, with each month's page flipping over the one before. The Hang-from-the-top starters make that from ordinary A4 sheets: A5 landscape pages from portrait A4, each sheet folded top to bottom so the fold is the hanging edge.

Choose a large month grid on every page, or a portrait photo beside the grid. Each month is its own page, folded top to bottom, and the Print tab names the edge to flip on when you print both sides.

How to make it

  1. In the Layout tab open Start from a look and choose 'Hang-from-the-top month calendar' or 'Hang-from-the-top photo calendar' from the Desk & wall group
  2. In the Calendar tab set the year and month to start from and your country for holidays; add photos to the photo pages
  3. In the Print tab, under Booklet printing, check the sheet count and the edge to flip on, then export the PDF and print double-sided at 100%
  4. Fold each sheet top to bottom: the fold is the edge each page hangs from

Frequently asked questions

What size are the pages?

A5 landscape pages, from portrait A4 sheets folded top to bottom. The Print tab reports the finished page size and the printer paper size.

Can I use my own photos?

Yes, with the photo version: a portrait photo beside the month grid. Photos stay in your browser and are not included in share links.

How do I hang it?

The maker draws and imposes the pages; how you hang them is up to you. The fold is the hanging edge, so a staple, a hole punch and a ring, or a clip along the fold are ways to do it.
